Warm & cozy Glass Igloos
The glass-roofed igloos provide you the opportunity to sleep beneath the starry skies and the northern lights. Even though we live this far north, we can never guarantee the appearance of the northern lights. However, sleeping under a 360º glass roof multiplies your chances of seeing the renowned Aurora Borealis.
Each igloo is extremely well heat insulated to ensure guests are not bothered by the cold in even the coldest of times at night – the temperature is the same as in normal hotel rooms. The roof of the igloo is made from electrically heated glass, which means the glass will not cool the space; rather it maintains evenly distributed warmth while melting the snow and ice off the roof to give you excellent view to the sky. In addition to the heated roof, the igloo has underfloor heating. The beds in the igloo are motorized, which makes it possible for you to easily adjust the optimal position for sleeping or viewing the skies.
The first 15 glass igloos were built next to Arctic SnowHotel in the village of Sinettä in Rovaniemi in 2014. After that the number of the igloos has increased during several building processes and at the moment the total capacity is 39 glass igloos with 127 beds.
In Lapland we get to enjoy natural snow, and have beautiful snow falls that cover everything in a pristine white sheet. On days with heavy snow fall the sky is naturally cloudy, therefore not a Northern Lights watching weather. We have to wait for the snow fall to clear from the weather forecast before heating the glass roofs, to avoid heavy ice buildup on the glass roofs.
Twin glass igloos
20m² in size and suitable for 1-3 persons. Each glass igloo has its own toilet and shower as well as refridgerator, electric kettle, hairdryer. There are two twin beds as due to the motorization feature of the beds there can’t be a double bed. Third bed can be added as an extra bed.
Family glass igloo
33m² in size and suitable for 1-5 persons. Each glass igloo has its own toilet and shower as well as refridgerator, electric kettle, hairdryer. There are 4 single beds in the igloo as due to the motorization feature of the beds there can’t be a double bed. Fifth bed can be added as an extra bed.
When staying in a glass igloo, breakfast is always included in the accommodation rate and is served at Log restaurant. If you leave before the breakfast starts, you can request for breakfast package which you can pick up from the reception before you leave.
Arctic SnowHotel is located just next to the glass igloos and the entrance fee is included for the guests staying in the glass igloos.
During the winter months, it is possible to borrow snowshoes, toboggans, snow tubes and kick sledges free of charge.
Finnish sauna is included in the accommodation price in common use. If you wish to book sauna in private use and try maybe also snow sauna and/or outdoor jacuzzi, that will be for an additional price.
