Seasons

Three seasons, three different experiences!

Since our hotel is located near the Polar Circle in Finnish Lapland, we can truly feel the change of seasons. Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos has different unique highlights and things to do in store for each season. What all of our seasons in Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos have in common is our knowledge of snow and ice, which makes it possible for us to offer winter activities in Rovaniemi from early September to the end of March.

Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos is open from the beginning of September to the end of March, and our season is divided into three parts – autumn, early winter and winter.

Autumn September 1st – October 30th

As autumn paints Rovaniemi with the vibrant colors of fall, our forests and hills transform into stunning shades of red, yellow, and orange. Join us this season as the air turns crisp and the night skies are decorated with the Northern Lights. Our glass igloos offer the perfect way to experience the breathtaking Laplandic fall colors and the Northern Lights while staying warm and cozy.

Though nature may only be preparing for winter, we at Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos offer wintry activities as early as September. If winter is close to your heart, but the first snow seems ages away, Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos is the perfect destination. We are the only place to offer ice sculpting in autumn. You can also visit the unique Pop-up Ice Bar hat serves drinks in glasses made of ice!

Early winter November 1st – December 14th

If you visit Rovaniemi in early winter, you get to see the first snow falls that cover the forests in a thin white fail. The cold air makes the sauna and outdoor jacuzzi experiences feel especially fresh, and new snow creates chances for many activities. You may catch the Northern Lights during nighttime, but most of all the early winter is the time when the area around Lake Lehtojärvi turns into a true winter wonderland.

Early winter is the time when the construction work at our hotel site is at its height, and that is why the Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos is surrounded by exceptionally high snow mountains and drifts. Trees cloaked with heavy drapes of snow and snowflakes dancing in the air from dusk till dawn – take a head start to winter and join us during the frosty early winter!

Winter December 15th – March 31st

When winter turns Lapland into a winter wonderland where snow covers the ground, rivers and lakes freeze, the days are short, and the shades of polar night and the Aurora Borealis in the night sky illuminate the darkness, one of Rovaniemi’s most attractive winter destinations opens – the Arctic SnowHotel. Rovaniemi’s winter invites you to the snow and ice hotel, which is a real hotel with rooms decorated with snow and ice sculptures to attract guests from all over the world. The Arctic SnowHotel, Ice Restaurant, Ice Bar, Ice Chapel, and the impossible-sounding snow sauna are unique experiences that you should definitely combine with your winter vacation in Lapland.
