In the right hands, snow and ice can be transformed into a variety of experiences, both warm and cold. The most stunning example of this is our Arctic SnowHotel, where guests can sleep in snow rooms decorated with amazing ice sculptures, dine at the Ice Restaurant, and party in the Ice Bar. The hotel also features an Ice Chapel, perfect for memorable winter weddings held every year.
Winter activities in autumn
Our extensive expertise in snow and ice activities allows our guests to enjoy wintry experiences as early as autumn. In September, we open our stored snow trail for skiers right at the start of the season, along with our very Instagrammable pop-up ice bar, where you can enjoy a truly frosty drink from an ice glass. We are also the only destination in Rovaniemi that offers ice sculpting throughout the season.

Snow and ice are at the core of Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloo. This unique accommodation and visiting destination is crafted by a team of dedicated professionals specializing in snow and ice construction. Since our first snow hotel was built, we have continuously advanced our building techniques, prioritizing safety, memorability, and efficient, eco-friendly methods of producing and storing snow.
One of our key innovations is the unique mold we created for constructing the SnowHotel. Its distinctive shape is the first thing to greet our visitors and is also featured in our logo.
Our snow and ice sculptures are carved by an experienced team of local and international artists. The training for producing snowy experiences is arranged in collaboration with the University of Lapland.
Storing winter each spring
When Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos closes its doors at the end of March, preparations for the next year’s Acrtic SnowHotel begin immediately. We strive to ensure that the snow hotel opens at the same time every year. To achieve this, we gather and store a significant amount of snow left from the old snow hotel and other snow constructions. This snow is carefully stored in our snow bank under covers, ready for the next Arctic SnowHotel.
The Arctic SnowHotel, Ice Restaurant, and Ice Bar feature numerous massive sculptures and furniture carved from natural ice. The building materials are harvested from lake Lehtojärvi. When the ice cover on the lake is at its thickest in early spring, we cut and harvest huge blocks of ice that are stored in our ice storage. These storage facilities, cooled with solar power, make storing ice an ecological process. They also provide a space for sculpting and carving ice all year round.

We also create unique custom-made snow and ice experiences upon order for our customers – both for small and large groups. You order, we create! We create experiences from snow and ice for any celebration, whether the need is small like a ring box from ice, or big like the 1,200-seat snow restaurant we built in the winter of 2011 for the largest incentive group that ever came to Lapland.
